Message Make sure you didn't mix it up with the VCT connector. (they're same size connectors)

The ECU also might show a soft code 34 (Det. Sensor Circuit), even though there's no check engine light. When ECU senses a failure, it'll retard timing severely, and richen the fuel mixture. Then the engine takes forever to rev to redline and feels like you're towing a load of bricks uphill. Turning off the ignition for 10 seconds or so, resets it temporarily, but if the sensor/harness is bad, it'll come right back within minutes.

If its a hard failure, the check engine light will come on and stay on until you fix or replace the faulty component.

The easiest thing to do to check for the bad Det sensor is to use a 1K Ohm resistor, and jump the sensor connector on the ECU side. This will trick the ECU into seeing an acceptable value for the Det Sensor. The difference in the car's performance will be Night and Day, and you'll know for sure.

I don't recommend keeping the resistor in place for long though, because you'll be running with no protection from detonation.

Could be plenty of other things, but this is easy to check.

You can find a relocation kit from a member on this site for a good price. :-)
